1996: Solar Irradiance Research Network
Team Members:
Michelle Berry, Corey Holder, Bruce Naples, Nancy Severino
Research Objectives 1
We hope to produce 1 or 2 educational activity modules that focus on the use of sunphotometer and its data.
Tools: We will be using Authorware, a program that will enable us to make interactive multi media courseware, using sunphotometer data. Solar Irradiance data taken hourly, August 1995 - present.
Tasks: 1) The outline. 2) Completing the Authorware tutorial. 3) Gathering documentation, graphs, pictures, etc. to incorporate into the program. 4) Interfacing with Barbara Carlson, Brain Cairns, ICP faculty, and students in the development of the program.
Research Objectives 2
Analyze the relationship between aerosol particle size and relative humidity.
Tools: GISS sunphotometer data. NY Times relative humidity data.
Tasks: 1) Look through sunphotometer data on web, for clear days for time period of 8/95 to most recent data. 2) Look up relative humidity readings for selected days in NY Times. 3) Analyze aerosol particle size as it relates to relative humidity.
Research Objectives 3
To produce a user friendly web page to help teachers teach the science and research involved in analyzing sunphotometer data, as well as analyze our data for seasonal variations.
Tools: GISS sunphotometer data, August 1995 to Present for New York City.
Tasks: 1) Organize scientific materials to go on webpage. 2) Make or scan all images and plots to go on the web page. 3) Create or add materials/graphics that are to be added for a user friendly webpage. 4) Analyze GISS sunphotometer data for seasonal variability.
