Effect of the Sun's Energy on the Ocean and Atmosphere

EDV Instructions

Choose the following options:

  • Shortwave Absorption as the variable
  • A specific month of the year for time (eg. September to August)
  • 20 x 20 degrees resolution
  • Click on "Go get data..."

Identify your zone on the image:

  • Equatorial Region 10°N to 10°S
  • Low Latitudes 10°N to 30°N
  • Low Latitudes 10°S to 30°S
  • Mid Latitudes 30°N to 50°N
  • Mid Latitudes 30°S to 50°S
  • High Latitudes 50°N to 70°N
  • High Latitudes 50°S to 70°S

Extract a dataset:

Follow the large boxes along your line of latitude, clicking on alternate boxes so that you end up having sampled at least 9 sites (boxes).

Do the same for the variable Longwave Terrestrial Emission.
